You should try AIM Pro. It’s a professional version of AIM that’s commonly used for Vista and Mac users.

Use iChat, if you have it. It accepts past IM screen names. Otherwise, consider downloading adium X, a Mac chat program that is compatible with macs and AIM ( I like it)
