Downloading final cut for mac?

i downloaded final cut editing program for my mac and a white block/fig newton looking thing is now on my desktop i click it and just takes me to a folder where the same white thing appears and when i click it it does nothing. i know im doing something wrong can someone please help me?

    Drag and drop the second fig newton looking thingy onto your applications folder and open it from there. Anything? No? Maybe you need to re-download it.
