It sounds like the file you downloaded is not something the Mac knows how to run or open. See what the extension is and search for it online to find out what type of application can open or use that type of file.
For example, avi, mpg, divx, xvid files can be opened by VLC Media Player. iso files are usually used by CD or DVD burning programs. zip, rar, 7z, sit files need some type of compression/decompression program (Stuff-It Expander on the Mac should do it).
This author has not yet written a description. Please give them some time to get acquainted with the site and surely they will write their masterpiece.
